National Poetry Day: what’s a word’s worth?
Thursday 28 September 2017 is National Poetry Day.
To celebrate, we want to give you a chance to get poetic.
Below is the first stanza of Wordsworth’s most famous poem. Try to find it by linking up the correct phrases…or get more creative by linking them up in unusual ways…you might even want to add your own phrases.
I | wandered drifted marched |
lonely unquestioningly forgetfully |
as a(n) | cloud jellyfish elephant |
||||
That | shoots moves floats |
in waves on high direct |
o’er | roads and rails vales and hills sand and rocks |
||||
When | all at once suddenly gradually |
I | saw heard smelled |
a bus a crowd a mess |
||||
A | host battalion ghost |
of | golden perfumed tuneful |
seaweed jewels daffodils |
||||
fluttering buffeting wavering |
and | dancing flashing whispering |
in the | breeze. sea. street. |
